a sculptural live performance with a screen, 4K, sound, color, 40-inch monitor in upright position, 2025
performance: Yvon Chabrowski
The sculptural live performance shattered layers: surfaces, body, and ai images was developed with this setup: In it, different image qualities are layered and unfolded: videographed performance material with integrated AI-generated moving images, as well as the performance of the living, performing body, become spatially perceptible.
Seemingly from the inside of the screen, I feel and destroy the screen surface and unfold the different layers of a flat screen. In and between these layers, the images emerge that we see and touch every day, and that can, in turn, touch us.
While beholders perceive and receive the analogue destruction and unfolding of the screen on the monitor, I hold this monitor in front of my upper body, while my previously recorded video performance, filmed in this exact arrangement, plays on it. Integrated into this video performance are AI-generated moving images that were intended to make the body disappear.
Numerous AI-based image-generation technologies surround us in societies of the Global North. In relation to the screens around us, our bodily movements change, and new visual mechanisms emerge that allow us to perceive the complexity of images: reality is produced, bodies are depicted.
